My Approach

My therapeutic approach is informed by my experiences as a sexual assault trauma counsellor, social justice activist, youth counsellor, mediator, and sexual health educator. I conceptualize trauma, harm and healing from a restorative justice lens.

I work in the moment, I work with the body, and I work in playful ways. I like to install therapy with nervous system regulation and mindful practices to ground the sessions. Using metaphor, humour, and creativity can be helpful ways to explore deep emotions that have been hard to confront.

Taking the lead from bell hooks, Tara Brach, Thich Nhat Hahn, Kristen Neff, Pema Chodron and Carl Rogers, all of my therapeutic work is grounded within the profound practice of self-compassion. I work from a feminist, sex-positive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist approach that is queer and trans positive.

I strive to hold the space in a way that is predictable, confidential, organized and professional. You can expect warmth, care, non-judgment, respect and a place that is for you. You can expect me to be centered, curious, and kind.

I show up to this work as a fellow human fumbling along, doing my best and I hope I can guide you into the places that are calling for support and reflection.

This approach centers on the relationship with yourself, the relationship with others, the relationship between us. It is a style of therapy that attempts to flatten power and the hierarchical nature of practitioner and client. You have wisdom about yourself and I walk alongside you. I truly believe that we can heal through relationship.
